this post has always been on my mind, but just didnt get to write it down.
Ever since the army time, which is like 4 to almost 5 years that i have not been in my neighbourhood. it's not that i dun wanna walk around and see, but it's just that i usually only have my saturdays and sundays, which are not many days in the first place.
so ever since i moved back home for my attachment during the start of the year, i got to see and experience more of my neighbourhood, and it was indeed something different.
Of course, there would be usual obvious changes like the new buildings, but when i happen to pass by shop by shop, i noticed that some of the shops that i thought were still there, have already changed owners! the old, messy bookshop where i got my stationary, has now changed to one that sells clothes. the other bookshop that is always in competition with the old, messy bookshop is now selling toys and other stuff on top of stationary only.
about a month ago, i fell sick, so i went to see the doctor. When i opened the door, i was surprised to see that he had already had grey hair, and not the young doctor picture that i always had. (it maybe due to that doctors are very stressed, so they get white hair faster) When i went to the photocopying shop that i went when i was in secondary school, (to buy phonecards and collect them) the uncle was also so much older.
recently, i went to the coffeshop near my place to have noodles, and the whole coffeeshop was revamped and the noodle shop that i loved when i was younger, was still there! (heng ah) but the prices have already changed to $2.50-$3.50, instead of the usual cheap cheap $2. the stall also managed to have a signboard after so long...
Well, all these came as a shock to me, as my neighbourhood has already changed, or aged so fast. Indeed, it has been a long time since i'm back at home, getting to see my parents everyday. of course there are the good and bad, but for now, my just glad that im back at home, enjoying the neighbourhood and the 'little fairy' that places breakfast everyday on the table for me.
